    1. An overview of the Country, population density and the consequent affects on such social factors as space, accommodation and attitude to foreigners.
    2. The cultural model of the group vs. the individual.
    3. A look at business etiquette and structures including:

    • Introductions, bowing, business card protocol, hierarchy.
    • Social etiquette within a company + attitudes towards women, what to expect, how to behave at a business meeting, the decision making process.
    • Important Japanese cultural notions and traits (sincerity, modesty, the guilt ethic) and their impact on business life.
    • A guide as to what to expect in social occasions in Japan: The "Enkai" (drinking party) culture and the role of alcohol, subjects for small talk, time keeping, gift culture
    • A basic introduction to the Japanese language including essential phrases for the beginner and Japanese attitudes to their language.

    This seminar workshop provides an insight into the differing cultural models with the aim of enabling delegates to work effectively as a cohesive multi cultural team.
    This seminar employs some humour and is often viewed as an excellent "team building vehicle."

    • The cultural models identified and key values compared - enabling cooperation between neutral and affective colleagues -understanding rule based and particularist cultures. - a strategy to harmonize the way in which diffuse and specific cultures interface in the work place and individual the group.
    • A case study "The drinks party" to enable delegates to see and understand the diverse cultural models in the context of practical participative workshop.
